Editing Tab Name won't Stick after save

I am trying to edit a tab name and when I click save and refresh or log out it is defaulting back to the old label. I am trying to re-name Cases to Support Cases and Calls to Call - Leads. Any ideas on why this is happening?

After you save the changes check the following file: [root]/custom/include/language/en_us.lang.php. There should be a new line like '$app_list_strings['moduleList']['Cases']='Support Cases'.
If it isn't there check the write permission of the 'custom' folder.
