    Default Email acct passes "Test Settings" but can't send email

    Just installed 5.2.0k on 1and1.com (Linux/shared server) and am having trouble with the email account setup. Accounts configure fine, even check the email boxes correctly, but can't send. The following pop-up message appears. This happens on each email account configured. What's odd is that "Test Settings" button on each account reports "Your POP3 test connection was successful". So is this testing just the incoming email configuration and not the outgoing? Is there a test/diagnostics for the outgoing other than trying to email and getting this message?

    The system is unable to send the message using the outbound email account selected in the From field. Please check the settings for the account in the Mail Accounts tab in the Settings page, or select another account to use to send the message. Click OK to return to the message.

    Please check Admin -> Email Settings and make sure you have entered the right details there.

    Hi,
    I am facing the same problem. I receive incoming mails but I can't send. All settings are correct. I am using a public shared server for hosting and I have uploaded my own php.ini (the recommended ini by php with the session.save_path uncommented). I have set in the admin->email settings the right details and I have also added two outgoing mai servers and even tested it with my gmail account (using the default gmail button). Nothing seems to work.

    Can somebody help me?

    Perhaps I didnt say it correctly, sorry. I mean that my site is hosted by a company in Greece. It is called cubes but I dont think it matters. I have access to cpanel and ftp. The error message I get is in a pop up window:

    "Message cannot be sent
    The system is unable to send the message using the outbound email account selected in the From field. Please check the settings for the account in the Mail Accounts tab in the Settings page, or select another account to use to send the message. Click OK to return to the message."

    I had also a problem with changing the company logo but I set permissions to 755 to the full path and file and it worked. I tried resetting all files and folders permissions to 755 but it still didnt work..

    I am having the same issues using Version 5.2.0j (Build 5804), apache 2.2, php 5.2.8. Exact error message, I can receive but not send, and the email connection test reports successful. I use the same email address from outlook and both ways work fine.

    I resolved my issue - in my firewall smtp connections were not being allowed from 127.0.0.1, I lowered the policy level from high to low and the outgoing connections are working again.

    When you say you lowered te policy level in your firewall, did you do that on the server or the client computer? How did you do it?

    It is outgoing mail on the server, for one reason or another it was not allowing sugar to send out email. We are currently using csf - http://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html and the settings were adjusted there. I intend to troubleshoot this week - the goal being to get the security level back up, it has something to do with how sugar is connecting to the server to send emails
