Email Alerts to a non-user

I have a specific email alert that needs to go to a person (our accountant) after a certain event. This person is not a user, nor has any reason to be one...just needs to be notified of certain events. In our case, it's a request to print a check.

While in the workflow engine it seems I'm only able to send email alerts to actual users or groups of users.

We're using Pro Version 4.5.1e, and have only 5 users...all of which are utilized at this point. It seems ridiculous to have to purchase a license just to send occasional emails to someone in our contact list.

AM I missing an obvious option here?

I'm convinced nothing is impossible on this platform but then I also have a private PHP tinkerer's license haha

I guess the main questions to ask are

What is the triggering event which will send the e-mail

What information needs to be sent in the e-mail?

What action should be taken once the e-mail is received?

To add on to Labanjohnson's comments, you should be able to do that via the logic hooks functionality, but that would require some custom programming work.
