    Cool Email Attachment Umlaute Problem

    Hi there.

    General Installation

Operating system type and version Debian Sarge
    » Sugar Suite version 4.2.1b
» Webserver type and version Apache2
    » PHP version 4.3.11
    » MySQL server version 4.1.11

I have fixed the Umlaute Problem in Incoming Email.

But I have still a problem with attachments that include umlaute . like verführung.pdf

Could anyone give me a hint or does someone have an solution for this ?

    Thanks a lot !

How did you fix the Umlaut problem in Incoming Mail? We thought of migratring to 4.5, but that is currently not working properly!

In 4.5 the Umlaut problem in file attachments has sort of been solved. Only the ID is being retrieved rather than the whole file name, maybe

Question Re: Email Attachment Umlaute Problem

    Hi

My experiences while testing the new Sugar Pro 4.5 and the email features.

    A) I synchronized 3 emails from Outlook to Sugar

    1) Umlaut in mail body, attachment name contains an umlaut (.txt file)
    2) Umlaut in mail body, attachment name without umlauts (.txt file)
    3) No umlauts, attachment is a word doc file (.doc)

Using Internet Explorer everything seems to be okay
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
-> All 3 emails are displayed correctly including umlauts (in mail body and attachments).
-> I can download and open all files.

    Using Firefox (1.5.0.6)
    --------------------------------
-> Display in Sugar App is okay too.
-> I can download the attachments but the files are empty (the download dialog shows an Acrobat Reader icon for all files?)

Any ideas? Bug in Sugar or Firefox - or deal with MS

    B) I sent three emails directly to an email account which is checked by our sugar installation. (inbound feature)

    1) Umlaut in mail body, no attachment
    2) No umlauts, has attachment (without umlauts in names)
    3) No umlauts in body, attachment with umlaut

    IE & Firefox
    -----------------------
    1) body truncated at first umlaut (as already mentioned by others), btw. umlauts in the subject is not a problem
    3) In the Email module the attachment name is displayed correctly, in the Notes module the name is not displayed correctly. Instead of "Text-Döökument.txt" it shows "Text-D%C3%B6%C3%B6kument.txt "

    IE
    ----------
    2/3) Attachments okay

    Firefox
    ----------
2/3) Attachments truncated (e.g. Text "Und hier steht Text drin..." was truncated to "Und hier steht T"
