Email Campaign: The following From address failed

Hello all,

I have been running campaigns using SugarCRM 5.1b via SMTP for some time now. I just finished a campaign last week with 1500 recipients and everything went fine.

However, this week, another campaign has ended up with 288 stuck emails in the queue. The error message in the log file is:

SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: The following From address failed: campaigns@xxxxxxx.com

The email address is perfectly valid, and the campaign happily sent out over 1200 messages with the same From address before this started to occur. I have cleared the emailman table ("update emailman set `in_queue`=0, `in_queue_date`=NULL, `send_attempts`=0") and then tried to resend, but no luck. I am currently trying to manually send them out by clicking on the "Send queued campaign emails" button.

Hi again - and possibly solved.

It seems to be a SMTP server issue, not a PHPMailer issue. I pointed to a different SMTP server and the remaining emails sent out faster than ever (about 4 times faster: 100 emails took 120 seconds on the new SMTP server, compared to almost 5 minutes on the old SMTP server).

It leads me to believe there are some SMTP server settings that need to be considered for optimal use of the PHPMailer. It could be anti-spam measures or some kind of security trigger based on too many emails sent from a single user - unfortunately, I don't know enough about configuring SMTP to provide more than speculation.

Anyway, I know other people have had the same issue so hopefully this will help you as well.
