Hello,
We have a client or in this case many clients from a group that have an email change. Their domain name is changing. We have 137 contacts from that group, so 137 contacts to change.
Exporting to excel (find and replace domain name) and re importing(update) to Sugar will be my preferred choice to handle that mass change.
Where I need help is that I tried it on 1 contact, change took place alright upon importation. What I didn't expect was to see all the history vanish under that contact.
Called my Sugar provider and he told me that history was link to email address, so if address changes in a contact the history is un-linked from contact (still there but not linked to anything). I find that linking history to e-mail addresses is quite an awful concept and way to manage things. It should be linked with internal ID of the contact, like it probably is with accounts and opportunities.
So the solution that was given to us was to keep the old address as secondary and make the new addresses as primary so we don't loose our history. We are trying our best to keep junk out of Sugar and not do like we did in Act were junk and useless info was everywhere.
That being said, keeping old addresses is junk, useless info that we do not want to have at all.
Is there another solution to this problem ? For we do not want junk in our contacts but we do not want to loose the history.
Thank you
Have a nice day
