Email Notifications for ALL changes

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help...

We use SugarCRM to manage our Event sponsorship projects. Each team member persues several leads and updates the site with notes and documents as well as new leads, etc.

The problem is, we all need to login to check whether there have been updates. Although there is an email notification system built-in to Sugarcrm, it seems to be quite basic and only sends out notifications when a user is added etc.. what we need is a notification to be sent to all users whenever there is ANY CHANGE at all on the CRM.

Is this possible? Right now we are emailing each other to tell them the CRM has been updated which diminishes one of the reasons for having a CRM in the first place..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi jagz707,

Instead of changing Sugar code, maybe you could implement this "email when something changes" on the database level through triggers? Yes, it depends on the database type and version you're using, but if db supports triggers, it may be quick way achieve what you're after.

Thanks for your suggestion. The problem is triggers are not supported in MYSQL until version 5.x and most hosting providers are not providing anything more than 4.1.

Secondly, I think it wouldn't be the best approach. I am really surprised that something as basic as this has been left out of Sugar. If we look at other groupware oriented products, from helpdesk sodftware, to group-office type LAMP based applications, they all have the ability to send a simple mail whenever a change is detected...

I am wondering if this is something that SugarCRM forgot to include or whether its by design. If its by design, then how are users to know when something significant has ocurred?

I have exactly the same question. I am implementing the code to assign notes to users and to notify them when this happens. I think it is a basic feature that is missing, unless you know PHP.

I am using Sugar CRM OS 4.2.1b, maybe newer versions have added more functionality.

I totally agree. This is super standard on so many platforms, it almost seems it was deliberately left out of something as otherwise robust as Sugar.

Please add this as soon as practical.
