Default Email Template Insert Variable Issue

We are running Community Edition Version 5.2.0e (Build 5626). We are having an issue with the Insert Variables when sending email templates to leads.

Here's what's happening: we use the "Insert Variable" feature to insert the name, company and address fields from a lead record (basic mail merge fields). With certain email address' the fields seem to have become corrupted and the merge information does not appear in its entirety, e.g., the name field might merge just fine but not the address fields (street address, city, postal code). Oddly, the name sometimes reads differently than it does in the lead record. For example, in the lead record the name might read "Joseph Smith" but once it has been merged into the email template it reads "joseph smith" (i.e., the leading caps have been removed).

Once it starts the problem is persistent but isolated- only a handful of email address' are affected. Everything works fine w/ most leads and email address'.

So far as I can tell, the problem is not specific to the lead record as I have deleted the suspect record and re-entered it yet the problem persists. Further, If I change the problem email address to a different email address within this same lead record the merge works fine. So, the problem seems to be with the email address itself.

Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Dan Cronin

    Hi Dan,

check your system to see if you have a contact in the Contacts module with the same email address as one of the leads that you are having problems with. If so, then there is a bug in the system with this: http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/index.ph...7-49d3912c86c6

Thank you Sugarcane. Exactly as you suggested, there were multiple records residing in the Leads and Contacts area for the problem email address'. Easy enough to remove them from the Leads area.

    Thanks again!
