I've looked around quite a bit and maybe my searching is lacking, but is there any way to merge fields into an email template from other modules such as cases?

I am wanting to use something like the Case Description in an email. Is there a place to find a list of these usable fields?

We are currently using 4.5.1e, but are testing 5.0 out in our environment.
