emailing a group of contacts

Can't seem to find an easy way to do this. How can I create a group of customers and automatically send an email to all of them at once?

You can create a mailing list by going through the addressbook tab and drop that mailing list in the to,cc,bcc field when you compose an email.

Thanks, but is there any way to create a predefined group? I see that I can control-click and choose several people and then drop them onto the To field, but that means I have to select them manually.

Check out the Campaigns (email marketing) functionality. You can send an email, such as a newsletter or message, to a group of targets.

The Campaign module is useful for campaigns, but too cumbersome for quick hit emails to groups of folks.
Basic CRM functionality; need to create predefined groups of contacts based on some attribute w/in their profile.

For instance: everyone in new york city, people w/in the something.com domain, etc.
Or even more basic, let's forget about creating/filtering by attribute. I'd settle for simply creating a group by hand-picking from the list of contacts.

Example email type "Server Outage Alert" - need anyone on our team to quickly be able to send a note out to a predefined group of contacts.

Seems soooo basic.

If not planned to be part of the core - is anyone aware of a 3rd party plug-in?

Perhapse you can help me to motivate the sugar developers to enable this feature soon.

I'm guessing that there's no movement on this because it potentially cuts into the people that would purchase the MS/Outlook plug-in to have richer control over grouping, etc.

I am so frustrated! I have over 600 leads that need follow up and don't have the time to click on every single one and do an email! I have alot of LM1 that I want to send a LM2 and so on.... Can you merge your email addresses from the crm to Outlook or something so that you can send to a group all at once? I don't understand why this is such a complicated thing. Mass email is not new. creating a campaign is too complicated and from what I am reading, not very effective in the way it is supposed to work. I have been trying for a month now to get our team trained on this and nothing has happened so I am stepping in on my own. PLEASE HELP!!

The Pro/Enterprise edition of Sugar has the ability to "select from Reports"... where you can create a report ("all contacts who must be notified of an outage") and then use that report to build your list of targets.

Something that may help you (or at least give you some ideas) is the new set of Sugar University library items called "Email Templates and Campaigns". you can access this free set of guides by going to the Online Library and clicking on the Marketing tab.
