Default Emails don't appear under Activities/History

When I have a lead or opportunity with an email, and I click on "compose email" under the activites section of the detail view (or if I click on the email address self in the detail view), I get to compose an email with the "TO:" already prepopulated with the correct email address.

However, once the email is sent, I can see it in the Sent Mails but I CANNOT see that I sent any emails to the lead/opportunity under the Activities or History sections of the detailed view. I thought this was indeed possible (otherwise it's rather dumb to have to go into "Sent Mail" every time to see if I contacted a lead or not....)

I think this MIGHT be related to permissions issues. All of my permissions are set to 775 and some I had to set to 777 (but If I set all permissions in the entire sugar directory to 777 everything stops working). If someone knows what part of sugar may be responsible for making Sent Mails appear in the Activities/History of a lead/opportunity, I could make sure to turn that on to see if that solves the issue.

    thanks!

100% same problem here when composing an email for a contact.

SugarCRM Community Edition Version 5.5.0 (Build 6653). I run instances of Sugar on 3 different servers:

    - One server (php 5.2.11) where everything works from scratch, I had nothing to hack. History works well when composing an email, the way it should be.

    - 2 servers (php 5.2.11 and 5.2.12), where I struggled from the start with permissions to get rid of warnings, errors and page layout issues. I set permissions of cache, custom, data and modules folders to 775 (folders) / 664 (files) and config.php to 664 for one server and had to set EVERYTHING (files and folders) to 777 on the other server. However, for both servers, history of composed emails never appears.

    Wait ...

I just found the issue, nothing to do with permissions.
I had "Preferences > Copy to sent email" unchecked. Checking it made new composed emails appear in the history section. I assume that it is the way SugarCRM is designed.

Could you check again this setting?

Well I got it working but not sure how. The check box for "Copy to sent mail" is checked. The other thing you want to make sure is that where it says "Associate with Lead [Name]" in the Compose Mail screen that it's selectred the proper lead you want to associate this email with. It should auto pre-select the right one if you go to the lead's sheet and click on their email or check the box near their name and click Compose Email.

One issue that may be related or not. I can get people putting in emails just fine through the website form. However, when I try to manually add an email to a contact, it says "Checking primary" but then just sits at that and won't allow me to save (save button doesn't do anything). I can edit any other part of the lead or contact, but I can't seem to be able to add a primary email address....
