Euro Symbol in Pipeline

I know, I know - this subject has been written about many times in the past, but I still can't figure this one out.

I have a fresh install of 4.5.0h OS with US and German install packs. I changed the config.php to & #8364; (without spaces) in all the relevant places. If I log in using the US language pack, I get "Pipeline total is €0,00K". If I logout and log in using the German language pack and do a refresh I get "Pipeline Total ist €0,00K".

This tells me that the Pipeline chart is pulling the Euro symbol from some other place than the config.php. Can anyone tell me where it is coming from for the default US English so I can update it and get this up and running as well?

I got it to work, but the solution does not make sense to me.

If only US-EN was installed I reentered & #8364; in the locale settings. Nothing happened. I installed the German language pack - as described above the DE language pack worked, the US did not.

I then entered & #8364; (without spaces) in the locale settings in BOTH the US and DE language and then it worked. Maybe this will help someone else.
