Default Export Entire Database including History & Notes etc

    HI everyone,

I need to export my entire database with the notes and history to go into another CRM database.

I've exported the entire database to excel but all it seems to do is duplicate some of the entries.

Do I manually have to go into the new CRM database and do again??

    Kind regards

    what database are you using?
If it is mysql you can try to backup the database with a mysqldump

Question Re: Export Entire Database including History & Notes etc

    Hi,

Have had a look at the manual for backing up and that makes no sense to me either. I have no idea what "specify a directory that is writable by the same user as the Apache process" means.

    I'm not a programmer.

Ok lets try to understand what you want:
Do you want to copy the sugar database into another crm database? Or do you want to have a development environment with a replica of sugarCRM?

    Hi,

I've been trying to do this all day and now after 10pm and going to bed.

If there is a way of exporting the entire database (contacts, history, notes etc) to another CRM database program (namely SalesForce.com) would you please let me know.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to go through nearly 450 contacts and manually type in again.

My email address is deb@deb-e-secretarial.com.au or happy to skype chat if there is a way to do this tomorrow.

    Kind regards

    Deb

Just like most conversions between different systems you'll have to map the data and then convert it. There are many different options to converting data. One way would be to export the tables you wish to convert and import into the new database. Then create a script that will populate the new systems table structure with the data from the old system. This is where you'll need to map where the data from the old system would go to the new system.

In general, systems don't create exports to other competing systems for obvious reasons.

    Hi Eggsurplus,

As I said in a previous post - I'm not a programmer - so what you've just written makes no sense to me at all - LOL.

In Sugar it asks if you want to export the entire database - which of course I've said yes too. There are no other options (unless of course you are a programmer and you know what and how to do this).

I will just export what I can and then manually go into each contact and retype the information in.

I've been trying to get this off the ground since April and can't afford to waste any more time.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

    Kind regards
