Default external email box on localhost sugar (windows)?

[SIZE=2When I try to set up external email box to get mail from there and to compose email by it - errors eppear. Is it possible to use external mailbox with sugarcrm installed locally on computer? I suppose there would no problem, if it had been installed on hosting: there is sendmail and other features. But cheap hosting providers do not provide mysql 5 and PHP features such as json and so on.

So, I use local installation of sugarCRM on localhost, win platform: apache 2.0 + mysql 5. It is ok, work good, except for email
    servername = localhost (in httpd.conf)
    Mail Transfer Agent: SMTP
Compose email using this client: SugarCRMClient

    ERRORS:
    Inbound Email Setup: xxxxxx@gmail.com
    "use ssl" is checked

I press save and get "No Optimums were saved with your inbound email mailbox. Please review the settings"

And I can not get any email accordingly - system just hung up when I press "Check my emails"
May be this is because my local apache server does not have ssl support?

    Hi fuzzle,

The warning recites that you might have skipped any of the step while monitoring the inbox for inbound email.

Have a quick look at this to configure the inbound email: http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=158
    For outbound settings: http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=159

Make sure that your SMTP sever is running when you use the email functionality. Also cross check the email settings.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

I do not run email server on my computer - this is windows station!
I have been trying to get letters from my gmail mailbox

Problem is likely to related to ssl protocol, that is used by gmail. I can get and send letters if the mailbox doesn't have ecryption and uses standart ports for email.

My apache server doesn not have ssl support. I try to add it to apache server - but with noio luck. The sugarcrm team should do something about it - because small companies and individuals may want to use gmail or another mail service with encryption

And it is quite strange that sugarcrm doesn't tell you anything about it, when installing.

So, if anybody could test connection to gmail in sugarcrm, especially on windows station - please, tell me you apache configuration: httpd.conf.
