    Default Field dependancies

Does anyone know if the following is possible...

We have a number of varying products and services, and each has varying types of information that is important to making the sale. With that said, I don't want to overwhelm sales people with my opportunities containing tons and tons of fields, that they may or may not need to populate for a given opportunity they are working.

Ideally, I want to only show certain fields when they are relevant to the opportunity. I would identify this by opportunity type. So for discussion sake, lets say I have a pet store (I apologize in advance for this lame example but I am a little low on creativity today)....

If someone is interested in buying a fish, I would select "fish" as my opportunity type. When that is selected I would then see field to identify "type of water" with values for fresh or salr. Now if my opportunity type was "dog", I wouldn't see the "type of water" field, but may see fields to identify if the dog has it's papers, is house broken and so on.

I would like to use this same logic in other modules as well like campaigns, tasks, accounts, and so on. I feel that keeping the interface simpler by only showing relevant info is going to increase user adoption in all these various areas.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

    The DevToolKit fits your needs.
Have a look on extension Dynamic Panels.
The link to the DevToolKit project is in my signature.

    Hi Andre,

It seems like your DevToolkit would only work for sugarcrm version 5 and above, i have a similar situation but for version 4.5.1i. The Gender field in a custom i developed depends on another preceding dropdown. How would i apply this to sugarcrm 4.5.1
