Field inteligence possible via STUDIO

Hello,

I'd need to know if what i want to do is possible via the studio. Probably is via some programming, but I don't have access to those Programming files, I only can use Studio

We have a custom module we built for our accounts equipment park. That module is related to accounts. The equipment module will have some customized fields such has : Manufacturer, year of Fab, serial number, model, series.

In order to have everything uniformized, I've decided to go with drop-down menus for various fields (avoid unnecessary mistakes in name etc)

What i'd like to do is this via Studio : Have Father field trigger Son Field which in turn would trigger grand-son field (all of which are drop down menus).

For example (only using father and son fields)
We have 2 Manufacturers we deal with : A B (Field MANUF drop down menu)
Manufacturer A has model : 1 and 2 (Field A MODEL drop down menu)
Manufacturer B has model : 3 and 4 (Field B MODEL drop down menu)

What i'd like studio to do is if user selects Manufacturer A , Field A MODEL Drop down menu will appear besides or somewhere in the layout. If user selects Manufacturer B, Field B MODEL Drop menu will appear.

I don't know if I make sense or you understand what we'd like to do.

So is there anyway Studio can manage popping appropriate field according to a specific value of another field ?

Hi,

no can do with studio, that´s something that needs to be done manually.
For someone with basic php/javascript skills it´s done in 15 minutes.

Too bad studio ain't capable of more.

Hopefully in the future Studio will have more intelligence and integrated features that will allow non PHP programmers (or non access to PHP files people) but with a solid PLC/PC background to be able to use Sugar to more advantages.

Rumors of dependent dropdowns for Studio in CE version are around for a while, maybe one day we´re in for a surprise.
