    Default File Permissions

    Strange things are happening -

    I'm running:

    SugarCRM Version 4.5.1d (Build 1273)
    MySQL 5.0.20-standard
    php 5.2
    hosted box with phpwebhosting.com

I have been customizing my install for the last four days - LOTS OF WORK - last night for some unknown reason the permissions changed on several directories - include and cache directories to name a couple.

This caused major problems with the application.

This morning everything seems to be working ok. I spot checked several permissions using my ftp client and everything seems to be ok.

The only scheduler running or set to run is the email poll but I don't even think its really working. Problem is once ownership gets changed on those directories / files I cannot take ownership back to correct the problem. I have to create a ticket with my hosting company (the joys of shared budget hosting).

How could this have happened? How can it be avoided in the future?

Anybody have comments, thoughts, advice? Can I trust this install? We were suppose to start entering real data this week.

Hi scott0204, do you recall running "Repair Custom Fields"? (Not sure of exact wording). Just curious. Some folks in this thread have made a similar complaint.

    Thanks,

I did - it all started when I tried to install a couple modules - the password reset module and zuckerdoc (I think thats the name) - those wouldn't install because of permission problems in the cache dir - so I tried *all* the diagnostic tools and repair tools I could find on the sugarcrm admin page.

Repair Custom Fields - is that what causes this?

I still wasn't able to install any of the modules - I wanted to install module builder in addition to those listed above.

Thanks very much for taking the time to respond - I really appreciate it.
