Default Filter email addresses when importing in Sugar5?

I would like to filter the email address duplicates when importing the leads and I noticed that Sugar5 (by default) has no email addresses index verification on the import.

How do I add email address index on it?

    Thanks.

    hc.

So lets see if I understand correctly.

You are importing and want to eliminate duplicates when the emails are the same. Right.

Well, first off if the emails are the same aren't the name fields going to be the same? If not why not?

If you really want to do this then you will need to modify the DB and make email an index. The trouble here is that Sugar allows for more than one email address to each record. Aside from that once it is an index you can specify to verify duplicates on the import. Use a DB access tool like myphpadmin to do this. Make sure to fix the code and vardefs accordingly so its upgrade safe.

hope this will point you in the right direction,
    Paris

    Hi, hanjayac

If you can wait for the SugarCRM 5.1 it could be good and shipper.
The next release (still in beta version) have an improved import module which check for duplicates before importing and update records when necessary.
It will be release in june or july.

    Hi,

Thanks for the replies, I actually have created the email index on vardefs file in the Leads folder and I see the 'email, deleted' index, but when I import them, it was still importing all the email dupes.

    Anyone knows whats going on?
