Default First Post - But in desperate need of help

    Hi

This is my first post on the forum.

We installed Sugar last year but encountered problems trying to add fields and left it alone. We now seriously need to get this used and I have again been looking at making the necessary field changes but encounter same problem

Using studio I select Accounts and Fields and then Add Field. This then gives me a Properties box with a Field Editor and Help tab. But there is nothing else in the Field Editor box - it is just empty.

I also get the same issue when trying to add a Field in contacts. As I am an absoluet novice I am sure there must be something basic I am not doing correctly but have spent hours trying to figure it out without and success.

    Can anyone help - please.

    Rob

Once you create the field in the proper module, you need to add that field to the different views, edit, detailed, list, etc. After that is done, you have to save deploy the changes.

    Plata

Thanks for that. The problem is I can't create the field in the first place.

I am in Studio. I select the Accounts module and then the Fields option in the sub menu. This presents me with a list of existing fields and a button of Add Field and Edit Labels. When I click Add Field nothing happens except on the right hand side a Field Editor tab appears but nothing in it and still the list of existing fields shows in the middle box under the buttons mentioned above.

I have also noted when I click on an existing field name nothing else happens either and I would have thought by doing this I could view the field properties, but nothing appears.

    Thanks

    Rob

Just for reference we are using the following version: Version 5.0.0f (Build 3338)

Could this be a Java issue - or even a setting on my browser?

I notice at the very top of the screen I get the message Loading as I press Add Field and then shortly after the message Done. But as I mention apart from an empty Field Editor box in the Properties section nothing else happens.

What browser are you using? More details might help us help you.

    Hmmm....

Have you tried clearing your cache?

Does the same happen from other workstations?

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing?

Unfortunatley I have cleared cache to not effect and also it does happen on other machines.

Have (hopefully) attached screen shot as I had just clicked Add Field.

    Thanks

    Well that seems awfully bizarre.

Does this happen in all modules?

It seems almost though the files that correspond with that section of the page aren't being read correctly or at all.

Have you confirmed your permissions in the SugarCRM directory on your web server?

Does the file field.tpl exist in your /sugarcrm/modules/ModuleBuilder/tpls/MBModule folder?

Anything different about permissions on that file versus permissions on other files in other directories, like those in <sugar root>/modules/Accounts?

Have you tried enabling debug logging to see if the debug log yields any clues?
