Description:: When you use the studio to change the Targets > List View (NOT Target Lists) to allow other variables like the Account Name to be listed, and then run a search all the Targets "disappear". They are still intact and viewable by other users. To remedy you can "Reset to Default Preferences" on the User Management page for the user in which the problem occurs. I was able to precisely repeat this several times, insuring that this was the issue.

I tested on Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and IETab (in Firefox). You had to reset the default preferences in both engines to fix it in each place, respectively.
