Sugar support just solved a problem for us that I was unable to find a solution for in these forums, although many have experienced it...so I thought I would explain the problem and one of the potential reasons why...
We noticed that a user couldn't log into Sugar, along with the message "FAILED LOGIN: potential hack attempt" in our sugarcrm.log file, along with a "...could not contact Sugar Server..." message at the top of each page.
Well, this turned out to be failure of the automatic license validation feature within Sugar. Apparently, Sugar attempts to re-validate your license every thirty days (?), and if it can't, one of the first thing it starts doing is preventing non-admin users from logging-in. Why this also gets reported in the log as a potential hack is beyond me! As well as, why it doesn't just say "Can't re-validate license"!!
Anyway, this is one reason for symptoms like this.
