Default Getting custom fields to appear in a module

OK, so I think I am being a bit of a dummy here. I have created 2 custom fields (category dropdown - what category the contact should be stored as - and agency clients - a text field into which I can input clients). When I try to create an account or contact, I want these fields to appear

I go to the Studio, click on the Accounts folder in the left hand pane, and open the layouts folder. there are 3 views - edit, details and list. I open each in order and sure enough, I can drag my two custom fields over to my layout view. These fields unfortunately have to replace one of the existing fields. I do this in all three views, saving and deploying each one, then return to "create account" or "create contact". The view is still the default one. Neither of my custom fields are there

Am I being truly stupid?? I have tried everything and cannot get this to work. Can anyone help? I would be extremely grateful

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hello,

These fields unfortunately have to replace one of the existing fields
Actually, from the left hand panel, you have the ability to add new rows into the layouts, so that you can add new fields and not need to remove the existing ones.
I do this in all three views, saving and deploying each one, then return to "create account" or "create contact". The view is still the default one. Neither of my custom fields are there
Make sure you click the 'Save and Deploy' button, not just the 'save' button. If you still do not see your changes, try going to Admin-->Repair-->Quick Repair and Rebuild and run the process.
