Global and private team: where?

Hi,

the end user guide talks about a Gaobal and a private team, but I can't find any place in the application where I can use this. For example, how do I link a meeting to the global team so that all users can see the details, and how do I link a meeting to my private team?
Also, how are private teams of users defined?

Any pointers to documentation about these Global and private teams will be welcome. I looked in the admin giude but to no avail....

Hi,

Which flavour of Sugar are you using, CE or PRO. The team functionality is only available in PRO and ENT
If you have PRO/ENT then you can define teams in Admin and assign to different users

You can edit all Users and set the default team.
This way when that user create any record this one will be related to that default team.
When you create a new user SugarCRM automatically create a private team for that.
For example:

username created: raphael
private team automatically created: (raphael)

When creating a meeting or any other record you are able to modify the pre-filled team.

I'm using the Community Edition, but has teams are mentioned in the user guide I assumed it was a feature of the CE too.

Does the absence of teams mean that all users of the CE can see all meetings of all users and not only free/busy info?

CE does not include teams functionality. That doesn't mean you can't restrict who can see certain records, just that you can't use teams functionality to do so.

Take a look at the Security Suite module for CE. You should be able to find it at www.sugarforge.org

Can you elaborate on the creation of a meeting not visible by others without the teams functionality?
In my tests I have employee1 reporting to manager1, and I don't want employee1 to see details of manager1's activities, only free/busy status. I can't seem to achieve this at this time

Roles are indeed helping, however I'm not sure how to implement "a manager can see his employees' tasks, but the reverse is not true". It seems the manager can either see all meetings, including those from employees in an other department, or he can't see any at all (settings available are all/owner/none).
