In recommended IMAP client settings for gmail here (referred to many times in this forum)

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=78892

it says:
As a general rule, we suggest the following settings:

Sending:

* Do NOT save sent messages on the server. If your client is sending mail through Gmail's SMTP server, your sent messages will be automatically copied to the [Gmail]/Sent Mail folder.
So, applying this in SugarCRM, I UNchecked "Copy to sent email" in SugarCRM's Email settings. However, I lose one of SugarCRM's key functions: composed emails are tracked in a Contact's History.

So I had to check "Copy to sent email" back on, but this goes against google's advice, so what is the problem / what are the risks?

Environment:
SugarCRM Community EditionVersion 5.5.0 (Build 6653)
php 5.2.11
