    Default Goldmine 6.7 to SugarCRM

Looking through the forums, I saw a couple of old, incomplete threads on this subject. Has anyone made this move successfully? Are there any particular resources you could point me towards as we get ready to make this move? Is a csv style format one of the most useful output/input strategies? Other thoughts or ideas?

    Thanks!

We have an extensive amount of experience with GoldMine and have done some conversions. This is not for the faint of heart.

There are various challenges in accomplishing it, first one being that GM is contact centric and Sugar isn't. There are a number of other matters to take into consideration and require careful planning, for example, what will you do with your Details data (if any) as Sugar does not have a comparable place to hold that data.

We offer conversion services to our clients if you are interested, but in general, be prepared to spend some time figuring out data mappings and so forth. Also, keep in mind that unlike the GM world, you will not find tools like Inaport or GoldBox for Sugar.

    Susie,

Thanks a ton! This could be a life saver. Of course, it should still make life interesting for a good number of head bangings off the laptop. It doesn't look terribly bad, all in all though. The real kicker piece is going to be twisting the examples to export and import the e-mails! Also, have you seen anyone get the calendar stuff out yet? I am thinking I might be able to use the ical format, but that would have to be on a user-by-user basis.

    Angel,

You can't find tools like InAPort or GoldBox simply because you don't need them. YEAHHHH! I'll take MySQLAdmin or PHPAdmin or whatever it is any day of the week. Just getting away from DBase IV will save enough time to make up for the headaches now.

Not sure I agree with you on that. You can get just as many generic dBASE edit/browsing utilities as you could MySQL ones (likely more). Where Inaport and GoldBox are helpful are in the business logic behind performing certain functions. Many of those can be duplicate via phpMyAdmin or MySQLAdmin, but creating the unique ID value for all the records in each table isn't one of those things, and that's critical.

In any case, good luck on the import.

    Hello, gah242s.

Perhaps, Apatar Open Source Data Integration may be useful, either. It is a data integration tool that links databases, files and applications. It enables SugarCRM connectivity to GoldMine and a lot of other data sources. And it requires no manual coding.

Here is the link for a pre-created integration job (DataMap) which enables transfering data from GoldMine data to SugarCRM: http://www.apatarforge.org/files/bus...-sugarcrm.html

Using Apatar's Scheduling function, you can schedule one-time or recurring data transformations.

Find an online demo that explain how to configure SugarCRM connector: http://www.apatar.com/demo/web_demo...M_Connector.htm

Hope, this tool would help you.

    Alex,

Interesting product. Unfortunately I am moving from a DBASE IV implementation of GoldMine.

    Thanks,

    Greg Harris
