Google Apps and SugarCRM 5

We are running SugarCRM CE 5.0.0a in-house on our MediaTemple server. We also use Google Apps to run some of our e-mail systems (at our domain).

I would like to set up SugarCRM to notify our team of new responsibilities. PHP 5.1.4 with OpenSSL enabled.

Can it happen? This has been discussed before but it's often part of the 4.5 discussion -- not 5.0. Has someone done this? I really don't even care about inbound e-mail through Sugar (we're all happy with our clients). I just care about outbound.

My settings:
smtp.gmail.com Port 587
Use SMTP Authentication YES
Use SSL YES


I don't see any errors in the web interface... but there also aren't any e-mails being sent.

You're not alone. I get the same problem and it's a pain as I'm sure some outbound campaign emails are being flagged as spam as a result. Not sure whether the problem is with Google or Sugar, but I'd be very happy if it was fixed.

SMTP outbound from Sugar does not work for our Google Apps gmail either. No errors or any indication. Just no emails sent either.

We still have to use sendmail but it would be great to use Gmail because all emails sent through gmail are retained in the gmail sent folder.
