Grant permissions with roles

Hello all,

I have SugarCRM Professional Edition, version 6.1.4.

The way I understand the roles, everybody has access to all by default, and then we can restrict the access by the roles.

I would like to do exactly the opposite. I mean everybody has access to nothing and then I grant permissions. It is the way permissions work in pretty much all the systems I worked with.

I read that statement on a website:

Enhanced roles support
Currently, all users have access to everything by default. Roles are used to restrict access. In the SugarCRM 6, roles can optionally be used to grant access instead of restrict it.

Is this enhanced roles support has been implemented?

You can create a role and disable access to all modules. A user with that role has no access to anything. You could duplicate that role and create other roles less strict by giving access to whatever module you like.

This is what CE version 6 offers. In Pro version you can do settings on field level too, not only module level (maybe more, I don't know details).

Ah yeah that's a good idea. I did not think of that. The duplicate function will be handy.
