Group Contacts

Hello community,

I want to group contacts to organize them.

For example, I'm creating a contact and say that this is a contact regarding american markets or asian markets or for product A (or more of these attributes).

But actually I don't know how to realize this ...

Hi Andreas

You can do the following supposing you are using the SugarCRM 5.1:

1. Create the module Products containing the necessary fields;
2. Create the module Contact Groups containing some fields like category (dropdown) and other possible ones;
3. Create a relationship M:M between Contacts and Contact Groups;
4. Create a relationship 1:M between Products and Contact Groups;

This way you can add a set of Contacts int a Group for a specific Product.

First of all thanks for such a greate help, i have some query

I am also facing the same problem, we are currently using ACT for all our contact management related functions like grouping them according to the type of sector of industry and various subcription of contacts like newsletters, magazines, we also use letter merge function of ACT for printed letter and all this is recorded in the history of ACT and that is the biggest advantage of ACT over other CRMs.

I found SugarCRM feature rich, now i got stuck in the grouping feature that you suggested above, i have created a module name group based on person template and made a dropdown list of group items and m-m relation with contacts.

But now what next, how can i relate some contacts to a group and select them by selecting the group and then send them emails and merge them with letters and record that in history of group as well as contacts history item.
