group e-mail in dashlet

Hey all,

I am the system admin for a company using SugarCRM 6.0.1 Professional. Recently we decided to take our support e-mail box, which our technicians were using imap mail clients to deal with, and bring it into Sugar. We are only using a group box via imap and not having Sugar import them or modify them in any way.
Now we would like a dashlet to be able to view and utilize those e-mails just like under the e-mail tab. I attempted to examine the myEmailsDashlet that comes with professional but, as a sugar newbie, couldn't figure out how to achieve this. I also contacted support on this and they put in a feature request for me. However, I would think that this could be achieved through a custom dashlet if I knew how to configure it.

If anyone can offer any help or even a push in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

Take a look at this ... http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/emaildashlet/ .. we developed this once for a project and pzblished it. I assume it will need an update for the current release but hope it helps.

I added the dashlet and played around with the settings. I still could not get it to display a group e-mails that are not imported into sugar. It had far more options then the default E-mail dashlet, which was nice, but nothing to look at an imap'd group e-mail that isn't imported.
If you have any insight into this, please let me know.

This only displays group emails in Sugar. I did not even know that sugar in the meantime built a standard email dashlet. In any case putting a dashlet together that queries an imap mailbox and displays the content on the homepage is not a very exciting exercise for a knowledgeable sugar developer.
