    Default Handling Vendors

I'm going to be using SugarCRM CE to track not only clients, but also vendors. I need to be able to store different info (like hourly cost, a rating, etc). Being brand new to this, I see that I need to build a module but I'm REALLY unsure how. Is there some place that might have a Vendor Module that I could add and modify?

    Hi aaroncampbell

You can create a new module based on Company template and add the necessary fields into it.
Adjust the views (Detail, Edit, List) as you wish.

    Hi aaroncampbell,

Will both the vendors and the clients have those same set of fields (hourly cost, a rating, etc)? If so, then you can simply create a 'Type' dropdown field in the Accounts module to denote whether the account is a client or a vendor. This would save you the time and effort of having to create a whole new module. The 'type' field could then be added to the search panels so you could easily filter through the records.

This worked perfectly, but I have a few other things I'd like to do to it. I'd like to be able to list as many websites as needed (as work examples), but I can't figure out how to do that. I know it does it with E-Mail addresses, but I must be missing it.

Also, is there a way to allow you to search using a field (dropdown) for values ">5" ?

E-Mail addresses have a database table of their own and there is a relation table linking between the E-Mail table and the contacts table.

I'm also interested how to create such a module. Any link would be appreciated. It's quite difficult to find all the info you need on the sugar site(s).

    Hi aaroncampbell

It is not so clear for me: I'd like to be able to list as many websites as needed (as work examples), but I can't figure out how to do that. I know it does it with E-Mail addresses, but I must be missing it.

    Can you explain again?

It is pretty possible to search using a field for values ">5". We had done it for a customer and it is working like a charm. Although it is upgrade safe it is not so easy to do and requires good understanding of Sugar Architecture.
    Do you have these skills?
Let me know if you need help.

When you are entering a new company, there is a field for E-Mail address. There is a link under that field to "Add Address" and it will add additional E-Mail fields. I want to do the same thing with websites. Then, if they have 1 website I can add it, but if they have 30 or 40 I can add them all.

No, I don't have much SugarCRM understanding yet. I just learned of it a few days ago. It's all in PHP though, so I may be hacking together my own solutions for osme of this stuff.
