Default Help! Which CMS best integrates with Sugar?

    Hello everyone,

Newbie question: I've decided on SugarCRM Community Edition for my ecommerce CRM needs, that was a no-brainer, and I'm using this decision to help narrow down the choices from among all the open source CMS apps out there. There are hundreds of them.

I want to choose one for my small business that is scalable and can be integrated with SugarCRM, and the best ones seem to be PHP-based anyway. So which PHP CMS's can be most easily integrated with Sugar as well as other PHP apps such as a project management app like eGroupWare or Mantis?

Is this kind of integration best done with thru a PHP framework? If so, which PHP framework is the most Sugar-friendly? and Mac-friendly? I run Mac OS X so it needs to be Mac-compatible as well.

    Thanks!
    Jeff

You should take a look at Joomla! as there are already existing components to tie Joomla! and Sugar together.

    Hi Angel,

Thanks, yes I noticed that. Also noticed some for Drupal and a defunct one for WordPress. Which seems to be the favorite CMS for Sugar users?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Anecdotally, it seems like Joomla! gets the most attention.

The Joomla one can be a pain to configure though for a bunch of different reasons. If you want a powerful CMS check out Expression Engine or Drupal. I've heard of some sort of integration with Sugar for both of them which you may be able to customize to meet your needs.

Thanks, that's good to know...is that with the current Joomla? are the problems with Joomla still there with Joomla 1.6? I've heard good things about Drupal but it's not that easy to use, I'm not a programmer. Expression Engine is proprietary, does their license allow you to modify and customize the code?

    Thanks again,
    Jeff

There's a current, supported, inexpensive component for Joomla, RichContactPro from sourcecreativity.com

    Hi Jeff

SouthwestCRM has integrated SugarCRM and Joomla! The component syncs SugarCRM Accounts and Contacts (and custom fields) with fields in Joomla. If you use a free Joomla component called Community Builder you can create an unlimited number of fields in your CMS system which sync with fields in SugarCRM.

Contacts you create in Sugar will be created in Joomla. And vise versa.

You can control access to your CMS system from within Sugar and if you delete a contact in Sugar they will be deleted from your CMS.

Plus! if you need a document management solution they have integrated KnowledgeTree with Joomla and Sugar so you have great extensibility!

    Good Luck

Thanks Ken, I just checked it out and it looks great. Just curious, why isn't it listed in SugarExchange? and I thought you said it was inexpensive... ;-)

    Thanks,
    Jeff

That is actually VERY inexpensive. The value that it brings easily justifies the cost several times over.
