Default Help customers are not recieving emails

I have my sugarcrm setup smtp through gmail and I had assumed that it was working because I would all ways send a bcc to one of my other gmail accounts and were recieving them. I Started to get emails from some customers that they didnt recieve any messages and verified by including some other accounts that I have... (hotmail, yahoo I did not recieve any messages but my gmail did. and I did check the junk folders also). It seems like gmail to gmail will work but other domains arent recieving emails. please help Is there something in the settings that is preventing the emails to go to a different domain? I am really confused. my email settings are as follows

    Outgoing.

    From address: myemail@gmail.com
    Mail Transfer Agent: smtp
    SMTP server: smtp@gmail.com
    Use smtp Authentication: checked
    SMTP user name: myemail@gmail.com
    SMTP port: 465
Compose Email messages in this format: HTML
Compose Email using this client: Sugar CRM mail Client
Compose Email messages in this charactor set: iso-8859-1 (western European and US)

I know my gmail account itself is setup properly because my outlook works fine without any problems at all
I saw somewhere in the forum a check something email address where you can send an email and are supposed recieve some sort of report back and Doing that through my outlook works but not through sugar

Also in sugar there are no errors whatso ever, the messages arent in que or anything, the status show as sent.

I am running sugar on a vmware virtual pc appliance and everything else works like it should except this email issue which for me is pretty big.

    Any help appreciated

    Hi,
you said you don't receive emails from accounts other than gmail.
Can you send email from Sugar's gmail account to another email account (hotmail & Co.)?
What do you think the cookie monster eats ?

Unhappy Re: Help customers are not recieving emails

Sorry to confuse you but I can recieve email through sugar just fine. Getting them out is the problem. sugarcrm to gmail I know works because I include one of my other gmail accounts in the bcc, and I recieve them. But when I tried to do the same and send out to my yahoo or hotmail accounts thats were there are no message recieved. Also ive been getting emails from customers with various other domains stating that they havent been recieving any emails.

"Can you send email from Sugar's gmail account to another email account (hotmail & Co.)?"

Nope I cant and that is a big issue for me.

It looks like strictly outlook use is what I will have to rely on untill I get this resolved

I guess this is due to gmail server.
Somehow it does not allow mail delivery to domains other than @gmail.com.
I am using email within SugarCRM built-in client with a different mail server and it works correctly.

I thought that maybee it would be the gmail server too but the thing that makes me think that is not is my outlook uses the exact same settings with the exact same account and it doesnt have any problems at all. One thing that I did notice is in sugar the one option that I cant find is to check a SPA box like it has in outlook. Maybee that might have something to do with it

I'm sorry that I can't be of any more help of this.
However, there is a difference between Outlook and SugarCRM mail: the latter is a webmail client. I'm not saying this is what causes your problem, but maybe...

I was thinking... why don't you use an external email client (outlook)?

    Thanks for the try

I think that using outlook will be my only solution for now, untill I upgrade the sugar to 5.0 (maybee that will fix it, but Ive got to figure out how to modify the php.ini file, the commands are all alien to me)

The only reason that I wanted to use sugar for the mail is because I like the how the mail gets sorted to the different accounts and such. It makes it a whole lot easier to read a conversation back and forth when in the history it shows which emails were sent by me and which emails were sent by them at a glance.

So my solution right now is to recieve the emails in outlook and to create a rule to forward the ones that pertain to the business to sugar. Hopefully ill figure out a system to make that work seamlessly.

Thanks for all of your help

I'm not sure that upgrading to Sugar 5.0 would solve your problem, I've seen many forum users reporting "buggy" behaviour with email in Sugar 5 too.
Your choice for outlook is good: having a working solution for your users, while you figure out how to make the other solution work, is always the best thing.
