Default Help importing data to update existing records

I know the people at Sugar are going to sigh at this one and even go as far as stick their heads in the sand but maybe there is someone out there who can help....

I have a Sugar database containing names and addresses without postalcodes.
I also have an XLS file with the same names and addresses but with postalcodes.

Is the only way to update the Sugar Accounts and Contacts addresses via a manual record-by-record Edit or does someone know a way to update the sugar records using sugar import, apatar or whatever. I just can't figure it?

    Somoene must know? Anyone? Somebody?

The quick and dirty way is to import the data into a temp table in the Sugar database then join the tables and update the postal code field. I especially like this method if it's a once in a great while type of a thing.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

How would you create a "temp table" and how/what to join? Sorry if i'm being simple....

I recommend you use Navicat to make your updates. It has many nice features to update/append info to your database.
You can export the table to .xls, alter it on excel and import it. It works like a charm. I have updated up to 2000 records in less than 15 minutes with it,
