Default Help with importing and set up

I am setting up a fairly basic database of around 1500 entries.
I have mapped in the Account database the address field to those labelled "shipping" adresses.
Now in the Contact database if I add a new contact, select the account, there are no address details as it brings up primary address which is not an option of populating in the Account database. I am getting pretty frustrated now, can anyone help, I have spent two days so far trying to do what I thought would be a simple task. Any other import advice appreciated.
Sorted now, but no delete option here.

    Thanks

    David

The contacts and accounts modules do use different field names for addresses ( primary and alt versus billing and shipping ).

So are you importing accounts first, and then trying to link the imported contacts to existing accounts? Can you detail your process a bit more so I can see what you are looking to do?

Hi think I am getting further now. I have now changed the address to the Billing address, which appears to be used as the default/primary address I belive?
Given that in most cases the key contact data is that which is in the Account database I assume I only need to add in the contact database, name and specific email and phone details for that user? It picks the other info up from the related ACcount entry, right?
During the import I map a couple of fields, ID and Account name, this automatically links the two databases, right?
    Thanks for advice.
