Help with the installation of 5.1.0

Hey People,

I am really tired and I think I am an idiot for asking this question, but here it goes;

upon installing SugarCE-Full-5.10 I received an error message that reads as follows:

Session Save Path Setting The session.save_path setting in your php configuration file (php.ini) is not set or is set to a folder which did not exist. You might need to set the save_path setting in php.ini or verify that the folder sets in save_path exist.
Note: Your php configuration file (php.ini) is located at:
/usr/local/lib/php.ini

Although I thought this was a pretty straight forward fix...it has proven to be perplexing to me (the idiot). The path it gives as to where the PHP.INI file is stored does not exist on my server. So I figured that I would create the path and put the PHP.INI file in there so it could find it...needless to say "no avail"

If someone could please set me on the path to enlightenment I would be very grateful

I am running the following:

Apache version 2.2.9 (Unix)
PHP version 5.2.6
MySQL version 5.0.45-community-log
Architecture x86_64
Operating system Linux
Path to sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail
Path to PERL /usr/bin/perl
Kernel version 2.6.22-19_1.BHsmp

I can't imagine that the info re. php.ini is wrong. Run phpinfo and see what it says. What Linux distro are you running?
