Help needed !! Creating custom fields in Employee modules

hi,
i am having SugarCRM Version 4.2.1a installed in my system. My problem is the values of custom fields created in the Employee modules are reflecting in data dase,only null is inserting.
for ex: i created a custom field Employee Category Type in the EditView.html in Employee module.In the Detail View Page i can't able to get the values for that field.in the date base also only null get value inserted .


so help me to resolve this prblm
