Help with pdf generation

I just recovered my SugarCRM to an ubuntu virtual machine after my server crashed. It all looks good apart from pdf generation. I am using a module called JCRMInvoices for my sales invoices and need to recover them for obvious reasons.

The accounts are there, and I can see all the invoices listed but when I try and open them the browser opens a new tab and squirts the contents of the pdf into a page (so I see giberish), rather than recognising it is a pdf and opening it with the relevant document viewer.

Urgently need help on this. Has anyone seen this? Is there a setting somewhere i need to tweak?

Other PDFs open in firefox just fine.

Any help greatly appreciated.

At the very least I can console myself with the fact that I have baffled the entire forum.
