Default Hide my client email/phone in contact module

    Hi all,

I am now using the SugarCRM CE

    I would like to ask,

does SugarCRM CE can control the permission by individual
I have checked the Field level access Control, but it only limit to a group of people

for example, I am a sales person, I'd like to add my client contact to the SugarCRM
but I want to hidden the client's email address/phone/mailing address info,
only me can read the email/phone from the contact module

Is there any recommend module can be installed or
I have to use other edition of SugarCRM ???

    Thanks and regards,
    Sam

Use roles and limit view/edit permissions based on individual roles. Upgrading to paid-for versions will not help in this instance.

Does it mean I need to create 10 individual roles, if there are 10 salesman ?

because my situation is ... there are 10 salesman, they want to hide their client contact info form other sales person,

    e.g.
Salesman A creates a "Client A" contact (including email and phone), but Salesman B, C, and other cannot read the "Client A" email and phone except the name

Salesman B creates a "Client B" contact, but Salesman A, C, D and other cannot read the "Client B" email and phone ...

    Thanks and regards,
    Sam

    Hello,

Actually, with SugarCRM Pro or Ent, you have the ability to set field level security through the Role security. You would be able to set it so that only the 'owner', ie the Assigned User would be able to view the phone fields and email addresses.

With CE, the best you can do with roles is restrict other users from viewing and modifying the record detailview and editview, but still keep the the listview viewable to all.

Does it mean I need to create 10 individual roles, if there are 10 salesman ?
In both scenarios above, you only need to create 1 Role, not 10. You would then add all 10 sales people to the 1 role

Since you are using CE, in this case, within the Role, you can set Contacts 'View', 'Edit', 'Delete', 'Export', to 'Owner'. You can then make a change in Studio so that the listview does not have the ability not display the phone number or email fields. You will also want to make sure to edit the Contact subpanel fields within studio to remove the phone and email fields from view as well.

Then, when they log in, they will only be able to see all Contacts in the listview, but because you remove the phone number and email from the listview, all they see is the contact name. They will only be able to click into and view/edit additional details only if they are the assigned user.
