Default Hiding fields in Editview based on user roles

    Hi

I added a new field 'Strategic Opportunities' into the EditView of the Opportunities. I want to show/hide this field based on the roles of the logged in user. I am not able to find a solution for this . Please provide me an idea.

    Thanks,
    Prajeesh.

You can definitely do this with some coding. There are a couple of posts around on how to do this:

I hate pushing my own stuff but my module SecuritySuite for 5.5 has another way of doing this. You can define customized layouts for different teams (groups) using Studio. So you could potentially show "Strategic Opportunities" on the Edit View for members of the Sales group but then hide it for those in the "Support" group. A download and the doc is available on the download if you want to check it out: http://www.sugarforge.org/frs/?group_id=552
