Hiding subpanels

Hi,

I'm new to SugarCRM - have got the latest build installed and have been working with it over the last 24 hours.

My team is interested in only the contacts and projects aspect of Sugar right now. Using roles I can disable access to the "Opportunities" tab for example so that it does not show up on the top menu bar. However I cannot figure out how to also make the Opportunities subpanel disappear, for example when I am on the Contacts tab. It's very confusing to have subpanels showing for things that I have disabled access to via the roles model.

Can anyone tell me how to disable subpanels so they don't show up?

Hi,

You can remove the subpanels by editing the layout_defs.php file of the respective module. Say, you have to remove the Opportunities sub panel from Contacts module, then go to

\htdocs\sugarcrm\modules\Contacts\layout_defs.php

This file consists the subpanels which are displayed with Contacts module. You can remove the lines related to Opportunities from this file.

Try it out. Hope it works.

Hi,

The easiest way to suppress subpanels is to go into Admin and select the configure tabs options. When you say make the Opportunity tab inactive, all subpanels are also deactivated.
