Default Hiding the tab of a new Module based on Role

I've just created a new module in Module Builder. Everything is working as desired except one thing: Removing the tab/menu item for those roles that do not have access to it. I made the appropriate edits to the roles so that only the appropriate roles have access but the tab/menu item still displays for users/roles that do not have access to the module. Users without access clicking on the link see a message in red saying that they don't have access.

The only way I have found to hide the tab is to go into each user's profile and hide the tab. I've got 300+ users and don't want to do it all manually. Is there a way to do it by role or a quick and dirty way to do it through code or the DB?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Michael

    Hi crmbalah,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have two roles. One that has the module enabled. One that has the module disabled. Users under both roles currently see the new module in the navigation Tabs. If the user without access clicks on the tab, they get a message saying they don't have access to that module.

What I want to do is just hide the tab for those that don't have access to it. Am I missing a step?

    Thanks.

Would you be able to point me to the right place and how to do the filter? A little snippet of code?

Also, I'm assuming I'd need to alter the header.php file in each theme directory, correct?
