Default How to add fields to the Available Fields in Merge Duplicates

How do I add fields, custom or otherwise, to the list of available fields when merging duplicates under leads?

e.g. I have a lead record pulled up, I click the "Find Duplicates" button and come to step 1 of the merge records module.

I have been unable to locate anything in the forums or documentation and I have unsuccessful at "reverse" engineering the module.

For custom fields, select the field within Studio and enable the Merge option within the field's properties.

For default fields, you'd likely need to create a vardefs.ext.php file to enable it.

That is what I assumed at first. But when I go through the merge records process, the custom field is not listed under the available fields to search by. Account Name isn't even in there (which is silly I think).

Account Name is Name, and it is there, just without the word account. in Sugar 6.0 there are several options within studio for enabling Duplicate Merge:

    Disable
    enable
    in filter
    default selected filter
    filter only

    select "in filter"

it will now be a field that can be searched and merged.

    Good Luck

I'm new to SugarCRM using 5.5 (existing client project) and the only merge options I get are disabled and enabled and in some fields it just displays 0 next it it and its not editable.

Once I have changed the option under the fields how do I get that activated? Does it require replying the module?

Faze - I am facing the same problem. Did you find a solution? I can only see Enable / Disable as 2 options in the drop down of Duplicate Merge. And even when I have selected "Enable", it still does not show up in "Verify duplicate entries against selected indexes" on Import Leads page.

The merge option in question is not for duplicate checking during import, hence the reason why you are not seeing it during imports.

It is intended to be used when you are merging 2 or more records within SugarCRM itself. You do this by selecting the records you wish to merge via the list view and then choose "merge" from the Actions menu. It has absolutely nothing to do with duplicate checking upon imports.
