How to add Special Character Validation to Text area

Hi

I have couple of text area fields in my Editview, some of them should allow only alphabets and numerics, it must not allow special characters, how can i add the validation to avoid the special character in a field.

Can any one suggest me the upgrade safe or unsafe solution .

Fixed it by adding regular expression in sugar_3.js

i am using sugar 4.5
