    Question How to Backup

    Hi,

I have tried to perform a back up of my database in my community edition & I have created a .xls file in a folder on my desktop called backup, when I go to perform the backup I get the message Backup directory exists, but is not writable.

Am I doing this correctly, if not can anyone help please?

    Thanks

    Please explain:

    1. How you are currently doing the backup
    2. If you have access to any tools like phpmyadmin, mysqladmin or sql command line

ps. If I didn't know better I'd say you were from the East coast of Scotland

Nothing ... only "How" instead of "Why" is what I most commonly associate with Dundee.

So ... the Admin>Backup only backs up your SugarCRM application ... NOT the database.

    1. What are you running SugarCRM on .. a local PC, departmental server, hosted server ...?
    2. What operating system is it running on?

Oh ... and you should be aware that the Backup in Admin (and it's a good idea to do these regularly), produces a .zip file and not a Excel file.
