How can I change a custom field type in Opportunities?

Hi,

We added a custom field drop down in Opportunities. Now we want to change it to a multi-select.

The problem is I can't seem to find the field definition ANYWHERE except the cache folder, specifically in \cache\modules\Opportunities\Opportunityvardefs.ph p. And the same with Leadsvardefs.

When I change the data type there, assuming I'm doing that right, it reverts back to a regular 'enum'.

Can someone please offer a little assistance?

Open the phpMyAdmin, connect to the sugar database, go to table fields_meta_data, update the record related to the custom field you want to convert from enum to multienum:
change the field "type" from "enum" to "multienum".

Go to Admin -> Repair -> Quick Repair and Rebuild.
