How can I test outbound email?

I have entered my gmail account info into Sugar so it will use gmail smtp to send emails. I am only going to be using Sugar to send notification emails when records are assigned, reminders, etc.

I need to find out how to test sugar to see if the email settings are working. I have been assigning records back and forth hoping that this would trigger an email, but nothing is coming through and gmail isn't showing anything in sent items.

one easy way to check if the settings are correct is to go to the emails module and try to send yourself and email. if the settings are not correct, then you will get an error message.

Thanks, that helped me figure out that my host had gmails ports blocked.
