Question How do I restrict cutomer/data access to employees?

    Hi,

We tried the open source version of SugarCRM a few months back to get our feet wet. There was however one requirement which I am not sure is configurable.

We need to setup employees with access restrictions.

Example: We have multiple support locations and unlike traditional support each location only caters to one set of customers. How do we setup up employees in such a way that they have access to only certain accounts and not all. Also some information about accounts/customers is previleged (for privacy regulations) and cannot be accessible by all employees. Is there some way to restrict access to certain type of documents?

    Thanks

    Rahul

You should be able to use the roles functionality to restrict access to the data.

Create a role for each geographic region and make sure data gets assigned accordingly so as to prevent users from one role from being able to view data assigned to users of another role.
