Default How Do Trackers Access Internal SugarCRM Server?

If SugarCRM is installed on an internal server, which is not accessable from where individuals whould read their e-mail, how do you setup the campaign trackers so they work properly? I tried copying removeme.php and campaign_trackerv2.php to an external location and specified the location in Admin->Campaign E-Mail Settings but then when I click on the link, it tells me that the page can not be found or it runs the program and just sits there doing nothing. How do I configure this so it works? When I do it all internally, it works fine.

I have searched the forums, wiki, and Sugar University and have not been able to find a solution. There was a lot of discussion on how to remove the Unsubscribe trackers, but I did not find a solution on how to make them work in my scenario.

    Thanks in advance,
    John Novak

When I specify the location of the fies rememe.php, image.php, and campign_trackerv2.php on my external web site, as indicated in the mnual, I get the follwing error:

Is there a document that detaills all of the things that need me done to make the campaign part of SugarCRM work? As I am reading the fromums it seems that a lot of people are having problems. There seem to be a ot of problems relating to trackers and crontab. The campaigns module seems likea great tool, but I have spent months trying to get it to work as documented.

    Thanks in advance,
    John Novak

Does anybody understand how to setup these trackers when SugarCRM is installed on a private internal webserver behind a firewall?

I sent out an e-mail newsletter to 246 targets. I got a message that only one person opened the e-mail, but I have talked to numerous people who got and read the newsletter. How does this information get back into SugarCRM when it is installed on a private internal webserver behind a firewall?

How does the unsubscribe tracker work in this environment?

I also setup a tracker to go to our external website, but no information is returned.

    Thanks in advance,
    John Novak

    Hi,

Look in the Wiki, perhaps here http://www.sugarcrm.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_campaign_(i.e._removeme.php )_external%2C_the_rest_internal%3F

    Hope this helps
    Cheers Malcolm

How do you disable the opt-out tracker? I don't want to do this but it is very deceiving to the email recipient. The opt-out option is displayed but when you click on it nothing happens. My SugarCRM installation is on a private network behind a firewall. Even though I have placed removeme.php on my public website, how does the information get to my SugarCRM system behind the firewall?

I'm not sure I am asking the question properly, but the result I am getting is that none of the information generated from the trackers is making itw way back into SugarCRM.

Even though I would love to keep the opt-out option, wouldn't it be better if it was not included since it does not work properly. If the recipient opts-out I never knnow about it.

    Thanks in advance,
    John Novak

Default Re: How Do Trackers Access Internal SugarCRM Server?

I too have been struggling with this for weeks now too. The wiki and the howto's in the forum have not helped. many people have asked, and all we get are referrals to documents that do not give all the details, or just threads that have the questions and no answers.

To make it clear...or more clear....this is the setup......

sugarcrm is on a local, in-office server, on the internal LAN (i.e. 192.168.1.56). It is behind a firewall so no one can access it except employees who are also in the office, and on the internal LAN and who are also behind the same firewall.

Now, the company website is being hosted OFF-SITE via a webhosting provider like godaddy. the company website is NOT in the office. it is NOT on the internal LAN. Everyone in the world can go to the website to look at it all they want.

I want to sent out an email using the sugar campaign. I want to have a link in the email that goes to the company website and i want to know who clicked on the link to the company website in the email....

When following all the instructions on this subject and on the wiki, etc....

I send out a test email and the link in the email shows up as...
    Code:
    http://localhost/sugarcrm/(tracker info blah blah blah)
    or
    http://192.168.1.56/(blah blah blah)
If am in the office I can click on the link and its no problem.
BUT I am NOT going to be sending the email to me, I am sending it everyone else on the planet, and they can NOT get to the link, because they are OUTSIDE of the office.....they are NOT on the same network as sugarcm is on.

    SOOOO..................................

    Scenario 1
(allow public web access to internal sugarcrm)
Do I have to open up my firewall to allow external web traffic to sugarcrm? If so, how do you configure sugar to put in a domain name or something other than "localhost" or the internal ip address when the tracker is used in the campaign email?

    Scenario 2
(place tracker files on the public, externally hosted company website)
What files need to be copied to public company website? how to they need to be configured? code examples? If the tracker is outside of the firewall and on the public company website, how does the campaign stats and info get back to sugarcrm on the localhost?

more info is needed for this. details please. I know how to "CREATE" trackers in SugarCRM...I JUST DON'T FULLY UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WORK OR WHAT THEY DO.

Please advise on which scenario everyone is using?
    How is this done?

    Thanks,

    Darren
