Default How do you search for blank or empty field

I have a bunch of accounts that have no phone number. I want to search for them. What do I put in the phone number field in 'advanced search' to pull these up?

    Thanks,
    Al

If you are using the Pro or Enterprise version, you can create a report that filters by the phone number (use "Is Empty"),

Thanks, but I use the Open Source. Just got it installed on Mac yesterday. Works OK with Safari, but the Merge Duplicates does not work... must use Firefox for that.

There must be some way to enter a search string to bring up records with an empty field, like phone number.

I'd like to know if this is possible also. You can search for one thing, multiple things, but not nothing or NULL. Because of this, you cannot search for items that do NOT have a checkbox checked, for example. I've had to make Yes/No fields instead that default to NO so that I can search for all "No" entries.

Having operators in search (like NOT) would help, but as it is now, I think you can only search for values that result in true.

Take look at these posts. There I explain how to modify your search.

If you are familiar with SQL and have programming experience I think you'll be fine hacking it.
