Default How does the reports to hierarchy work? Does it work?

I'm running sugarcrm v4.2 and I'm trying to restrict the view of data (leads at the moment) to the owner and their higher ups. Is there a way to do this? I'm using the default users provided and I've created an Account Manager role for max and an Account Executive role for sarah. I've restricted the view of the Leads module to 'Owner' for both roles but sarah can't see max's Leads even though he reports to her.

    Any thoughts?

This requires team security, which is available in Sugar Professional and Sugar Enterprise.

    In Sugar Pro:
"Reports to:" essentially adds the 'boss' of the user who reports to him/her to their own private team.

    Ex:
    Max reports to Will
Will is automatically added to Max's private team

At this point, any records you assign to Max's private team will be visible to him and anyone above him in the reports to hierarchy.
